Before you start to use careers chat live, we've established a few rules of use so that everyone can get the most out of their online communication in our live chatroom. These rules aim to protect all users by making sure careers chat live is safe for everyone. About your messagesKeep your contributions civil, tasteful and relevant. We're committed to providing an atmosphere in which constructive and mature dialogue takes place. Therefore: - No swearing or abusive language. Unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or otherwise objectionable material is not acceptable.
- Respect others. Careers chat live expects you to be respectful to other users, the host, the moderator and the careers experts.
- Communicate in English. The moderator will block messages containing languages other than English.
- No advertising.
- Do not impersonate others. Impersonating someone else is unacceptable. Adopting an inappropriate user name (one that is vulgar, offensive, etc.) is also unacceptable.
- For your own personal safety, we do not allow you to give out personal details such as phone numbers, e-mail addresses, or information about your family or workplace. If you include personal details in your message, the moderator will edit these out of your message before the message goes live.
- Post only career and job related messages. If you post a message, which is not related to graduate career development issues, the Moderator will block your message.
- If you ask our chatroom expert a question that they do not know the answer to, we will let you know. Also, the expert will endeavour to find out the answer to your question and their response may then be included in the transcript of the chat session, which will be housed in the archived chat.
About the law- You may not post any defamatory or illegal material of any nature in the careers chat live chatroom. This includes text, graphics, video, programs or audio. Posting a message with the intention of committing an illegal act is strictly prohibited.
- You agree to only post materials to which you have the copyright or other permission to distribute electronically. You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, personal, publicity, or proprietary rights.
About your privacy- Careers chat live will not publish or provide your email address to anyone. Our registration process requires you to supply us with your email details, but we will only use this information to validate your access to the careers chat live. From time to time, Prospects.ac.uk staff may contact you in order to obtain feedback on the quality of careers chat live. All feedback received is kept confidential and is purely for internal monitoring purposes only - to find out more about our client feedback procedures, please read our statement of service. Careers chat live may wish to send you information via your email address, but they will ask your permission first. Careers chat live follows recommendations listed in the 1998 Data Protection Act.
- Careers chat live does not allow you to send messages to individual users. All messages posted during a live chat event are viewable by all users. Therefore, one-to-one conversations cannot take place.
Eligibility to use Careers Chat Live- Careers chat live is primarily aimed at students and graduates from the UK and Republic of Ireland. Graduates from EEA countries (EU countries, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) are also eligible to use careers chat live. Students & graduates from outside of the EEA are welcome to participate in the live chat events.
Breaking the rules- If you fail to abide by these house rules, the moderator will immediately ban you from participating in the chatrooms. The Moderator will notify you of this ban, how long it will last and the reason for your ban. The moderator may at a later date lift the ban so that you can participate in chatroom events.
- Careers chat live reserves the right to edit, delete or refuse any message, at any time, for any reason.
