About us

Mission Statement:

"The National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) promotes, supports and develops quality work experience for the benefit of students, employers and the economy."

NCWE's Activities:

  • To disseminate information and good practice.
  • To encourage and support the development of quality and standards across all forms of work experience.
  • To encourage more employers to provide placement opportunities.

It currently focuses these activities on students during degree programmes in further and higher education.

Why?

Because students and graduates can improve the competitiveness of companies, in particular small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and they need to be work ready when they graduate.

Current Activities Include:

  • Accreditation of employers with the Work Experience Quality Mark
  • The NCWE Awards, an annual programme designed to recognise and highlight current good practice by employers.
  • Certification Service
  • Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate in the Management of Student Work Experience (MSWE).
  • Research e.g. The Barriers to Work Placements in Retail in the South East (funded by SEEDA and SkillSmart Retail).
  • NCWE also runs seminars and workshops on relevant topics and has produced materials for use by practitioners.

This is achieved by integrity of action, pursuit of quality in products and services, the recruitment and training of a responsible and educated work force, and a recognition that the satisfying of customers and their needs is at the heart of the organisation.
